A.D. Winans is the genius loci of the downtrodden. His poems make you feel as if you're walking the streets of San Francisco with him. His ability to weave ordinary language into startling metaphors taken from every day life makes him accessible to all. His wry humor makes you smile, his lyrical angst makes you cry, and his compassion makes you love him. I've been a fan of Winans for forty years, and he just keeps on getting better.

A.D. Winans' career-spanning retrospective. If you buy one A.D. Winans book...shame on you! But, if you buy one A.D. Winans book, it really should be this 400 page, 40 years in the making opus. The gorgeous, hand-bound book is a direct descendant of beat poetry in San Francisco and into the 21st century. A monumental, and significant book.
